Last year was monumental for Josiah’s Covenant. We received our first orphaned girls. They moved many things along and helped clarify that Josiah’s Covenant’s vision was on track and that we are meeting a real need. And the girls were better having been cared for at our farm. You can read more of the highlights in Josiah’s Covenant 2016 Annual Report by requesting on the link.
Josiah’s Covenant’s Full-Time Staff
This year we are working to improve what we can give to future girls. We now have six full-time staff.
- Allison and I (Kevin) are still leading the organization.
- David and Phoebe are a Chinese couple that will lead our local staff and will implement the development of future orphaned girls.
- Ai and Niu are another Chinese couple living at the farm who take care of the farming and provide security to the grounds.
David and Phoebe, like many Chinese people, work very hard. They have kept the farm busy the last few months with several groups having retreats there, and they have shared Josiah’s Covenant’s vision to help teenage orphaned girls with each group. Allison and I have encouraged them to remember to take days off.
We know if they get in the habit of stretching themselves thin (e.g. not taking weekends off), they will overextend themselves when we start getting more orphaned girls. This is why getting two more fulltime staff is so important before accepting more girls. This month David and Phoebe traveled to another city and took a long weekend to get some rest together. We are happy for this step toward protecting themselves from burnout. Your support of Josiah’s Covenant is improving lives of so many people.
Donor Spotlight – Chris Gaona
Several of you have gone to GreatNonprofits, a review site like TripAdvisor, to add a review of Josiah’s Covenant.
One of our donors, Chris Gaona, left this kind review:
“I have known the Josiah’s Covenant team since the nonprofit’s inception. The work that they are doing in China is absolutely amazing. They have sacrificed so much for this call on their lives and have produced amazing results. I have been giving financially to Josiah’s Covenant for a number of years now and have been truly impressed with their communication. They send out a frequent email newsletter that keeps me informed on an ongoing basis as to the work that they are doing. I would truly recommend supporting Josiah’s Covenant if you already aren’t!”
